Washington, October 18: Iconic actress and activist Jane Fonda will receive the prestigious SAG Life Achievement Award at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards. The announcement was made by SAG-AFTRA, recognizing Fonda, 87, as the 60th recipient of this distinguished honor. The award ceremony is set to take place on February 23, 2025.

In a heartfelt statement, Fonda expressed that she feels "deeply honoured and humbled" by this recognition. She reflected on her long career, stating, "I have been working in this industry for almost the entirety of my life, and there's no honour like the one bestowed on you by your peers." She further emphasized her pride in being a member of SAG-AFTRA, which she noted works diligently to protect the rights of working actors and ensure fair treatment for union members.

The SAG Life Achievement Award celebrates actors who have made significant contributions to enhancing the ideals of the acting profession. Previous recipients include Barbra Streisand, who was honored at the 2024 SAG Awards, and Sally Field and Helen Mirren, who received the award in 2023 and 2022, respectively. The award is presented to "a well-established performer who has contributed to improving the image of the acting profession and has a history of active involvement in humanitarian and public service endeavors."

Fran Drescher, president of SAG-AFTRA, praised Fonda, calling her "a trailblazer and an extraordinary talent" whose passion has shaped entertainment, advocacy, and culture. "We honour Jane not only for her artistic brilliance but for the profound legacy of activism and empowerment she has created," Drescher said, adding that Fonda's "fearless honesty" has inspired many in the industry.

Recently, Fonda appeared in the sports comedy film 80 for Brady and the sequel Book Club: The Next Chapter. She is also featured in Jennifer Lopez's upcoming film This Is Me... Now.
