Elon Musk has reacted to a provocative call from former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann , who suggested that Musk should be arrested and detained for his connection with Russia .

In a post on X, Olbermann had alleged that Musk was operating on behalf of Russia and urged President Biden to "lock him away in a military facility."

"We need to arrest and detain Musk immediately. He is operating on behalf of Russia. Cancel all contracts, seize his facilities, lock him away in a military facility," he wrote on X.

Responding to Keith Olbermann's allegation, Musk stated, "If anyone needed further proof that I strongly support freedom of speech , please note that even a nutcase like Olbermann, who is literally calling for my arrest and government seizure of my companies, is in no way being censored."

Musk's remarks came as he replied to an X user who echoed concerns about the longing for a "totalitarian police state" among some individuals, provided it only targets their perceived enemies.

The controversy surrounding Musk intensified after a Wall Street Journal article reported on his alleged communications with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the past two years.

This revelation has fueled Olbermann’s accusations, leading him to demand that the government sever ties with Musk’s companies, citing concerns over disinformation and Musk's critical remarks regarding the Federal Emergency Management Agency ( FEMA ) following a hurricane disaster.

Musk’s appearance alongside Trump at a campaign rally and his remarks about the upcoming election further added fuel to the fire.

In the midst of rising tensions between the US and Russia, Olbermann had called for drastic actions against Musk, even suggesting that President Biden should expel him from the country.

Despite the seriousness of the accusations against him, Musk maintains that his right to free speech remains paramount.
