Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested Radule Bojovic , a police officer from Hanover Park , a suburb approximately 35 miles west of Chicago, alleging he has been in the United States illegally after overstaying his visa.

According to the ICE, Bojovic was arrested on October 15 while conducting targeted enforcement operations in Rolling Meadows.

The "illegal alien" came in US as a B-2 visitor visa overstay, who was required to leave the country by March 31, 2015. He illegally overstayed his visa by more than 10 years.

What is the reason behind his arrest?

“Illegal aliens are prohibited from owning or possessing firearms — full stop,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Chicago Field Office Director Sam Olson.

“This is the second known instance in recent months of a local police department hiring an illegal alien and unlawfully issuing him a firearm while on duty in violation of federal law. It is alarming how local jurisdictions continue to disregard federal law to the detriment of their communities.”

Bojovic admitted that he had no weapons on his person because he's only authorized to carry his firearm while on duty. As an alien illegally present in the United States, ICE officers immediately placed Bojovic under arrest.

“Radule Bojovic violated our nation’s laws and was living ILLEGALLY in the United States for 10 years — what kind of police department gives criminal illegal aliens badges and guns? It’s a felony for aliens to even possess a firearm. A law enforcement officer who is actively breaking the law,” Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.

“Under President Trump and Secretary Noem ICE is restoring law and order. Criminal illegal aliens have NO PLACE in our communities, especially on our police forces,” she added.

Officials slam Chicago Governor

The ICE, in a statement, slammed the Chicago Governor and said, "This is just the latest instance of Governor JB Pritzker’s continued refusal to abide by federal laws, jeopardizing the welfare of Illinois residents."

Homeland security department secretary Kristi Noem said, "Sanctuary-state Illinois, under @GovPritzker, is completely corrupt. @ICEgov arrested an illegal alien working as a sworn POLICE OFFICER in a Chicago suburb. Radical sanctuary politicians have allowed criminal illegal aliens to infiltrate our school districts, communities, and even police departments. President Trump and I will continue to put the safety of Americans FIRST."

Who is Radule Bojovic?

Radule Bojovic, a native of Montenegro, has commenced his role as a sworn officer with the Hanover Park Police Department, according to DHS.

He was accepted into the Hanover Park Police Pension Fund in January with a starting salary of nearly $79,000, as per village records. Bojovic graduated from the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy in August, stated a social media post by the Hanover Park Police Department.

The post noted that Bojovic was beginning 15 weeks of intensive training “as he continues preparing to serve the Hanover Park community.”
