'Will wreak havoc': Shivraj Singh says Hemant govt 'deadlier than cyclone Dana'

NEW DELHI: Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday compared the CM Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government to cyclone Dana , claiming if voted to power it will "wreak havoc".

Chouhan, who is BJP's Jharkhand poll in charge, called the Hemant dispensation "deadlier than Dana".

"The Hemant Soren coalition government is deadlier than 'Dana'. While the severe cyclonic storm will disappear after two days, the Hemant Soren government, if voted to power again, will wreak havoc and destruction," Shivraj Singh Chouhan was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

He also criticised the INDIA bloc for "corruption, destruction and loot" during its five-year rule and alleged that the Hemant Soren government has already caused significant harm to Tribal-dominated Jharkhand.

The BJP and JMM are also locked in a blame game accusing each other of ' dynasty politics '.

While the JMM accused the BJP of engaging in a similar practice by fielding candidates who are relatives of former chief ministers, the saffron party has responded with the same coin.

The ruling JMM on Tuesday released its first list of 35 candidates for the next month’s assembly elections, retaining 21 MLAs including five ministers.

Referring to the JMM list, which features Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, his wife Kalpana Soren and brother Basan Soren, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticised the ruling party, saying, "The JMM's candidate list clearly reflects dynastic politics."

He further suggested that the JMM lacks diversity in its selection, fielding candidates with familial connections.

Assembly elections in Jharkhand are set to take place in two phases on November 13 and November 20. Results will be announced on November 23.
