NEW DELHI: After the recent membership campaign which witnessed over nine crore registrations, PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday became the first to be enrolled as an " active member " of BJP as he launched the party's " Sakriya Sadasyata Abhiyan", a campaign to enlist active members.
He took his "Sakriya Sadasyata" (active membership) in the presence of BJP chief J P Nadda and general secretary Vinod Tawde .
An "active member" of BJP has to enrol at least 50 persons as party members in a booth or in an assembly seat. Only active members take part in the party's organisational elections, which will begin after the membership drive ends. The party on Tuesday announced a four-member team headed by OBC Morcha chief K Laxman for the organisational polls.
