BARWANI: MP's Barwani district hospital was the stage for a bizarre scene Tuesday evening - an ' ojha ' ( black magic practitioner) doing 'jhar-phoonk' on a snakebite victim even as a nurse worked frantically to stabilise the patient.
Doctors had by then injected the victim, Rakesh, with anti-venom but his kin called an ojha as well. A video shows the patient lying unconscious as the ojha mumbles some mumbo jumbo.
Rakesh recovered & was seen sipping tea with the ojha, who quickly claimed credit, saying he had 'exorcised' the venom. The hospital administration has showcaused the nurse for failing to stop the black magic. Rakesh was bitten by a poisonous snake in Borkund village and was first treated at the community hospital. When his condition worsened, he was brought to Barwani district hospital, 40km away, on Tuesday.
