Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards is always known for being vocal about court issues. While playing against the Los Angeles Lakers, the young Timberwolves guard got into trouble again when LeBron James approached the referee and complained. However, he found fans’ support this time, who thought Edwards was right in calling out the referees’ biased approach.

Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards called out referee’s bias with a candid comment

While playing Game 2 of the playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers, Timberwolves’ Edwards was charged with a technical foul. It led to Edwards losing his cool, and he didn’t hold back calling out the referee’s biased decision. Apparently, he saw the referee taking the call on the Lakers’ LeBron James’ complaint. An NBA insider took to X to revisit the moment, tweeting:

““that’s a tech when i say that s**t!” - ant re: lebron”

It is not the first time Anthony Edwards has gotten into trouble because of being foul-mouthed. The Internet is full of instances where Edwards made uncalled-for comments. Also, he is not new to tech fouls. The Timberwolves guard gave a very safe reaction when asked about his tech foul rate. He said:

“Yeah I won’t get no techs. I won’t say anything, I’m going to stay super quiet. One hundred percent.”

Edwards’ rant has highlighted the referees’ tendency to take sides and give tech fouls often, as per the player's team and status.

Fans support Anthony Edwards reacting to referee’s decision

Anthony Edwards got the fans on his side this time as they also feel that the referees’ decisions sometimes become questionable. They supported Edwards and shared reactions extending their nod to Edwards’ observation.

One fan commented, “ant doesn’t have the entire league in his back pocket like some.”

Another fan wrote, “NBA techs really hit different depending on the jersey—some players get the whistle, others get the warning! The refs’ consistency is as unpredictable as Ant’s next highlight.”

“And he’s right,” said another player supporting Edwards.

“He’s not lying tho,” was another response to NBA Insider’s tweet.

“He’s got a point. Lol,” wrote an amused fan.

Edwards has a high tech foul rate, which sometimes bothers his teammates too. In February 2025, he got the 16th technical foul, which led to his ejection from the game and suspension from the next game.
