Send Push
The New Orleans Saints are losing wide receiver and kick returner Rashid Shaheed due to knee surgery , leaving them without a key player in both offense and special teams. Shaheed's absence adds to the already high number of injuries the Saints are experiencing, making it difficult for them to maintain consistency in the NFC South .

Shaheed underwent knee surgery in Los Angeles, repairing a meniscus injury initially thought minor. The surgery will take four to six months for Shaheed's recovery. The injury will sideline one of the Saints' top wide receivers and remove Shaheed, the NFL 's leading punt returner, who led the league with 15.9 yards per return and scored a punt return touchdown.

Rashid Shaheed placed on the injured reserve list

The New Orleans Saints have placed wide receiver Rashid Shaheed on the injured reserve list, but it seems he will be out for the rest of the season.Shaheed underwent surgery to repair a meniscus, which could have allowed him to return this year. However, the recovery timeline is 4 to 6 months, causing him to miss the rest of the 2024 season. Despite this, he is expected to return for the 2025 season.

The Saints faced a setback just hours before their Thursday Night Football match against the Denver Broncos, with receiver Chris Olave ruled out with a concussion and quarterback Derek Carr also dealing with an oblique injury and doubtful status. The Saints have added Shaheed to their injury list, along with Erik McCoy and Will Harris, who are on injured reserve due to groin and hamstring injuries respectively. These losses have forced the team to adjust and maintain competitiveness in a challenging division.

The Saints are facing numerous injuries, including oblique injuries to starting quarterback Derek Carr, linebacker Demario Davis, and tight end Taysom Hill. Head coach Dennis Allen is now tasked with maintaining the team's adequacy amidst a depleted roster. Shaheed signed a $5.2 million extension in July. His offensive prowess and special teams skills will be missed as the team moves forward. Shaheed's focus now shifts to his recovery.
