Indian Railways, Morsinghi Handball Nursery, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana enter semis at All India Hanuman Singh Memorial Women's Handball Championship

Jaipur: Indian Railways, Morsinghi Handball Nursery , Himachal Pradesh and Haryana stormed into the semi-finals of the 19th All India Shri Hanuman Singh Memorial Women’s Handball Championship , organised jointly by Rajasthan State Handball Association and Hanuman Singh Foundation under the aegis of Handball Association India, at the Sawai Man Singh Indoor Stadium here on Thursday.

The first semi-final will be played between Himachal Pradesh and Haryana, while Indian Railways will face Morsinghi Handball Nursery (Himachal Pradesh).

Organising secretary Yash Pratap Singh said that eleven league matches were played on Thursday in which Indian Railways defeated Rajasthan Police 19-11 (13-4), Morsinghi Handball Nursery trounced Gujarat 24-18 (9-7), Himachal Pradesh outclassed Punjab 17-10 (8-8), Haryana beat Rajasthan 24-12 (15-6), while Rajasthan Police got the better of Bihar 14-5 (8-2).

In the evening session, Gujarat edged past Uttar Pradesh 16-14 (7-7), Punjab downed Bihar 15-10 (6-5), Haryana thrashed Uttar Pradesh 26-14 (13-7), Morsinghi Handball Nursery prevailed over Rajasthan 9-6 (6-3), while Haryana overcame Gujarat 13-10 (5-4). The match between Indian Railways and Himachal Pradesh ended in a tie 18-18 (9-7).

After the matches, the organizing committee felicitated 73 international women handball players who are participating in the ongoing tournament. These players were honoured by Sheela Kalal, vice-president of women’s wing of state handball association, Pragya Bhatt and Manisha Rathore, coach of Indian women’s handball team.

On this occasion, associate vice-president of Handball Association of India Lalit Kumar Kalal, state consumer commission member Judge Shailendra Bhatt, Handball Association of India technical committee member Saikrishna Hattangadi, Handball Association India media in-charge Amit Pandey and Tejraj Singh were also present.
