Minnesota Timberwolves ’ Anthony Edwards , known for his strong reactions and use of unbecoming language, showed his softer side while talking about his teammate Julius Randle after beating the Golden State Warriors in Game 2. He called him ‘Alpha male’ and pinpointed Randle’s crucial role in orchestrating the Timberwolves’ win against the Warriors.
Anthony Edwards spoke highly of his teammate after Game 2 win over Golden State Warriors
Anthony Edwards, otherwise overtly opinionated, was quite decent, happy, and respectful when he was asked about his teammate Julius Randle’s importance to the team and his role in the current season. The occasion was the Minnesota Timberwolves' 117-93 Game 2 win over the Golden State Warriors, and everyone was elated, including Anthony Edwards.
The reporter asked, “Speaking of that defensive pressure and intensity, Julius Randall, he was three round rebounds away from a triple-double. What has he meant to this team this season since he's been here?”
To which Edwards replied, “It means a lot, man. Uh he's an alpha male, man. He stands out. Um, and when he plays like that, we're hard to beat.”
Before this, Edwards commented on how they managed to beat the Timberwolves. Talking about the winning strategy, he shared:
“Uh, we watched film yesterday. We seen um that it wasn't just we didn't make shots. It was more so our defensive pressure and intensity. We didn't bring it. So, we knew we had to bring it today.”
Anthony Edwards returned to game post half-time after an injury scare
In the same interview, the reporter mentioned the part of the game when he could not walk on his own and was to be helped out of the court. Talking about his state after injury-led exit, he said:
“Uh, feeling great. Yep. Feeling great,” summing up his mental state on returning to the game after injury scare and winning it eventually.
The teammates got worried thinking Edwards wouldn’t be able to return given his condition, but he proved everyone wrong and made a dramatic re-entry in the game.
Edwards played a significant role in team’s win scoring 20 points against the Warriors in Game 2 of Round 2. His other performance statistics include 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.
Julius Randle held the front strongly for the Timberwolves and got Edwards’ well-deserved admiration. He led the team with 24 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds.
