Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami joined other sports personalities in praising the Indian armed forces for executing Operation Sindoor on May 7, a retaliatory strike against terror targets following the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.
The Indian Air Force conducted precision strikes on nine terror launchpads across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, targeting facilities of banned groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba , without entering Pakistani airspace.

"The Indian Armed Forces turned adversity into a powerful Fateh moment. Their courage and valor in the face of danger have made us all proud," Shami posted on his social media platform X.
Several cricket personalities showed their support for the military action through social media posts. Former and current players including Gautam Gambhir, Aakash Chopra, Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, and Jhulan Goswami expressed solidarity.
"Agar koi aap par patthar phenke toh uspar Phool Phenko, Lekin Gamle ke saath. Jai Hind #OperationSindoor, what an apt name," posted Virendra Sehwag.
"#OperationSindoor is Bharat's response to the brutal killing of our innocent brothers in Pahalgam. JAI HIND," wrote Harbhajan Singh.
"Together we stand. Jai Hind ," stated former opener Aakash Chopra.
Defence officials confirmed the targets were selected based on intelligence inputs. The operation maintained India's counter-terrorism policy by avoiding civilian casualties and Pakistani military infrastructure damage.
The operation was conducted in response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack that resulted in 26 civilian casualties.
