The England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed that Chris Woakes will join the England Lions squad for their upcoming matches against India A starting May 30. Woakes, who missed the Zimbabwe Test due to an ankle injury that delayed his summer start, aims to prove his fitness and secure a spot in England's Test squad for the five-match series against India in June.
The 36-year-old veteran will be part of a Lions squad that includes international players Rehan Ahmed and Dan Mousley. James Rew, who was recently added to the Test squad for the Zimbabwe game, will captain the side.

Jordan Cox, who was unable to participate in the Zimbabwe Test, is expected to return to fitness in time for the second match beginning June 6.
Rehan Ahmed's availability will be limited to the first match only, as he is scheduled to join the national team for the T20I series against West Indies.
Ed Barney, ECB Performance Director for Men's Cricket, shared his thoughts on the series: "This series against a strong India A side is a huge opportunity for an exciting and highly talented group of players. It will provide an opportunity both individually and collectively to excel on the international stage as we continue to succession plan for England's future needs."
