Actor Karan Patel, widely loved for his role in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, has long been a familiar face in the Indian television world. Known just as much for his powerful performances as for his temper on sets, Karan has always been candid about both his strengths and his flaws.

Despite the shift many actors made towards OTT platforms, Karan stayed true to his roots. In 2023, he ventured into filmmaking with a project titled Daran Choo. Unfortunately, the film didn’t get the traction it deserved—timing, as they say, can be everything.

In a recent heartfelt conversation on Bharti Singh’s podcast, Karan opened up about the quieter phase of his career. He shared that he hasn’t received a single offer for a television show in the last six years. It's a vulnerable revelation from someone who once ruled the small screen, and it speaks volumes about the unpredictability of the entertainment industry.

Karan revealed that he hasn't received any offer for a daily soap, "I have not gotten a single daily soap offered in the last 6 years. Now, every day, around 150-200 new actors are being born. They will work on a show at 10 percent of the amount we would charge. There was a point where there was a lot of money in TV. But today, makers think that rather than making one show, they can make two web series in the same budget. But what about the quality?"

Haarsh then asked why Karan hasn't tried in OTT, to which the actor revealed, "I am not getting offers, be it good roles or bad roles. Now, the OTT space has gotten spoiled due to too many people doing too many things on it. Most of the shows on OTT today have become soft porn for me, if there is no sleaze or love-making scene in it, it won’t be watched even if its not required in the story."

Karan further shared how TV's recall value has diminished due to the OTT. He revealed, 'Earlier, viewers would wait for the episode to air and if they missed it they would wait for the repeat telecast. Now, with all the episodes being available on OTT, the viewers have stopped watching the show the way they used to. As everything is now accessible, you don't need to wait for it.'
