ONGC Merit Scholarship: Benefit amount
The ONGC Merit Scholarship offers 500 scholarships, each amounting to ₹48,000 per year, aimed at supporting deserving SC/ST students enrolled in professional courses. These scholarships are available for those studying in fields such as engineering, and medicine, as well as for master's degree programs in business administration, geology, and geophysics.

Nationality and Location

The scholarships are exclusively available to Indian nationals for studies conducted within India.

Course Requirements

Eligible candidates must be first-year students enrolled in full-time regular courses such as:

  • Graduate Engineering
  • MBBS
  • Master’s degree in Geology or Geophysics
  • MBA
The scholarship applies only to programs recognized by ISC, CBSE, MCI, AICTE, UGC, or relevant state education boards.

Duration of Courses

Students must be pursuing the following:

  • Four-year degrees in Engineering or MBBS
  • Two-year Master’s programs in Business Administration, Geology, or Geophysics
Academic Performance
Candidates must have achieved a minimum of 60% in their 12th-grade examination for Engineering and MBBS programs. For postgraduate courses, a minimum of 60% in graduation is required. Additionally, an Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA/CGPA) of at least 6.0 on a 10-point grading scale is necessary.


Application Zone
The scholarship application zone will be determined by the location of the university, college, or institute where the candidate completed their qualifying examination, rather than the student's domicile.

Family Income
The candidate’s family's gross annual income from all sources should not exceed ₹4.5 lakhs, or ₹37,500 per month.

Age Limit
Applicants must be a maximum of 30 years old as of October 1, 2014, for the academic session.


Other Financial Assistance
Candidates should not be receiving or planning to receive any other scholarships or financial aid from different sources. However, students who receive fee waivers or tuition reimbursements from state governments are still eligible to apply.


Publication of Beneficiaries
The final list of scholarship recipients will be published on the website www.ongcindia.com by the second week of December each year.


Continuation of Scholarship
Once awarded, the scholarship is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance. If a student fails to maintain a minimum of 5 grade points on a 10-point scale or secures less than 50% in examinations, the scholarship will not be awarded for that academic year.
