Salem: Residents of Anandha Erakkam in the city have called on the district administration and Tasmac officials to act against a bar that operates even in non-permitted hours in their area.
K Mahadevan, a resident of the area, said the bar is located on a land owned by the Salem corporation.
He pointed out that while the Tasmac outlet operates from noon to 10pm, the bar remains open round the clock.
Mahadevan accused the bar management of engaging in black market liquor sales throughout the night and early morning, allowing customers to buy alcohol at inflated prices and consume it on the premises at any time.
Employees at the Tasmac outlet claimed ignorance of the bar's activities.
Tasmac district manager (DM) Panneerselvam told TOI that he would lodge a complaint with the Salem city police regarding the bar's illegal operations beyond permitted hours, confirming that the bar should be open only from noon to 10pm.
