Wipro has declared salary hike from September 1, according to Chief Executive Officer Srinivas Pallia. In spite of the pay increases, the corporation said that it was able to grow its operating margin in the September 2024 quarter.“We implemented merit salary increase effective September 1, just nine months after the last cycle,” said Pallia during post-Q2FY25 results press conference.Presently, the total strength of Wipro's workforce is 2,33,889.On Thursday, Wipro announced an increase of 21 per cent in its net profit to Rs 3,209 crore for the quarter of September 2024, mostly due to increased spending by its clients in the US communications industry. It surpasses the expectations of the market. Its income increased by 1 per cent to Rs 22,300 crore in the third quarter of 2024.On Thursday, Infosys also announced its Q2 results and postponed its salary increments to Q3 in the midst of a lukewarm demand environment.Meanwhile, HCL Technologies has increased staff salaries by 7 per cent. The top achievers would receive salary increment of up to 12–15 per cent, effective October 2024, said Chief People Officer Ramachandran Sundararajan.The salary increment will have a nominal affect on the operating margins of HCL in the quarter of December 2024 as the firm will take effective steps to neutralize the affect, stated Sundararajan.The eligibility of salary increments for employees will be determined by the firm's review cycle and the amount of lateral hires who become eligible after finishing a service of one year.
