Delhi To Host 2 Half-Marathons On Sunday; Traffic Affected For Over 6 Hours-See Advisory

New Delhi: The Delhi Traffic Police have issued an advisory ahead of two half-marathons and a 10-km run scheduled for this Sunday, which will lead to major traffic restrictions across the city from 4:45 am to 11 am. The half-marathons, including the Half Marathon Open, Police Cup, and Elite Athlete races for both Indian and international participants, will cover a distance of 21.09 km. A 10-km marathon will also take place, beginning at 7:30 am from the Jeevan Deep Building on Sansad Marg. All three events will finish at the stadium.

Traffic Restrictions and Route DetailsTo ensure the smooth conduct of the races, traffic movement will be regulated on key routes. Senior police officers have stated that emergency vehicles will be allowed through, and cross traffic at junctions will be permitted based on the situation and the number of participants. Major junctions affected by diversions include Fourth Avenue-Bhisham Pitamah Marg, Sewa Nagar Flyover, and Kotla traffic signals. The marathon route will pass through prominent areas such as Jor Bagh Colony, Aurobindo Marg, Lodhi Road, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Subramaniam Bharti Marg, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, and Mathura Road, among others. Key landmarks affected by the race include Neela Gumbad, Gol Dak Khana, Man Singh Road, and Connaught Place. Alternative Routes for MotoristsMotorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid the marathon paths. For those travelling between the north and south corridors, the suggested routes include Ring Road via Ashram Chowk, Sarai Kale Khan, and ISBT Kashmere Gate, as well as routes through Dhaula Kuan, Sardar Patel Marg, and Connaught Place.Travellers moving between the east and west corridors can use the DND Flyover, AIIMS Chowk, and Vikas Marg, or follow alternative routes passing through ITO Chowk and Minto Road.
