is on the rise with countries such as Thailand and boasting picturesque landscapes, stunning beaches and warm weather that reaches up to 34C in May. However, there is another country that some tourists are saying is even better.
Cambodia is a small yet beautiful country nestled between Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. Last year, the country welcomed 6.7 million tourists, significantly less than neighbouring Vietnam, which saw 17.58 million, and Thailand with over 35.5 million. Despite both of the countries seeing more of a boom in their tourism numbers, travellers branded Cambodia as a better destination than both. On user Fz3n posed the question "Why Cambodia when Bangkok and Vietnam exsist?"
They added: "After visiting Cambodia(Phnom Penh), I'm struggling to see its unique advantages over its neighbours Vietnam or Bangkok for tourism, expat living, or investment. Am I missing something? Looking for insights from those in the know."
But many people were quick to respond with reasons as to why the stunning country beats its neighbours.
One person said: "Cambodians are way nicer people and, despite the governments best efforts in recent years, actually has pristine nature, which neither Vietnam nor Thailand do."
Another added: "I only have a couple weeks of experience in Cambodia, but I must say that it has been far friendlier than Thailand or Vietnam. Not that they weren't nice, but I just felt more welcomed in Cambodia. I could definitely see myself retiring in Cambodia far before Thailand."
The low cost of living was also highlighted amongst Reddit users as well as the simplicity of securing a visa or work permit.

With it having a fraction of the amount of tourists as its neighbouring countries, travellers get to enjoy experiencing Camodia's vibrant culture and warm sunshine without the crowds. The country is home to a variety of beaches where visitors can soak up the tropical sun.
Health and relaxtion are two important things throughout southeast Asia and Cambodia boasts a number of distinctive massage therapy traditions available at the various spas dotted around the country.
Cambodia is also home to the Angkor Wat Temple complex, known as a the largest religious monument in the world. The is rated 4.8 stars on TripAdvisor and the country's most prominent landmark.
One visitor said: "Watching the sunrise at Angkor Wat was an unforgettable experience. Arriving early to find a good spot is totally worth it - the view of the temple's silhouette reflected in the water as the sky changes colors is magical. It's peaceful, powerful, and truly awe-inspiring. This is a must-do when visiting Siem Reap!"
