has broken his silence after being axed from the live tour due to a sex scandal. Last year, the GoCompare ad star was caught up in three separate incidents - the first of which occurred while he was still competing in the dance competition alongside his professional partner
In a video that quickly went viral, Wynne was seen sliding his hand around Katya's waist before she quickly pushed it away. He also went to high-five her, but was rejected live on air - though he later claimed it was a "silly joke".
Now, though, that story has changed - Evans claims it was all a "body language experiment" devised between the pair. In a new interview with The Sun, he said: "It came from TikTok where they post clips with experts analysing body language. So Katya says to me, 'Why don't we create our own body-language experiment? Put your hand on my waist, I'll move it back, and let's see if people notice'. Naively, I said 'OK'."
The pair "laughed" and headed away from the cameras, with Wynne explaining: "Let me tell you the body-language experiment worked." He claims the pair then made a video explanation which was rejected as "too long" by officials, and were told to instead make a short apology video and move on.
But Evans says the apology "compounded" the situation, gathering eight million views on top of the two million the original video got.
As for his , Wynne says it's simply a nickname given to his co-star Jamie Borthwick "because he could contort his legs over his head like a spit-roast chicken." He insisted it "wasn't meant sexually" and showed he was only talking to Jamie and not , who was in a photo call with the pair when the comments were made.
The final nail in the coffin for Evans' Strictly tour journey was a viral sex toy video, which saw him send an explicit toy to Jamie Borthwick. He now admits it "probably wasn't the most sensible thing to do", but says it was a "stupid joke that backfired".
Evans added: "I realise now you cannot make jokes like that in the workplace - it's deeply unprofessional." He is willing to undergo language and behavioural courses set out by the BBC if they are deemed necessary, as "society is changing so quickly". In the meantime, series two of his BBC travel show with Joanna Page is "on ice", and placed on leave from his Radio Wales job.
