The VE Day 80th anniversary celebrations began in the UK yesterday as . As well as watching a parade to mark 80 years since victory in Europe, the royals - including King Charles and Queen Camilla - also took to the royal balcony to watch a flypast, before attending a Palace tea party held especially for veterans.
While many royal fans were quick to comment on the public appearance of the royals, especially Princess Kate and her three children, some couldn't help but notice another very special someone was there too. In photographs taken of the stage constructed on the Queen Victoria Memorial, where the royals and veterans gathered to watch the parade, eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot King Charles's "hot" equerry Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson, of the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland.
This came as a surprise for some as Lt Col Thompson, 41, moved to a "more executive and less public-facing role" last year, while still keeping his role as senior equerry to King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77.
This is believed to be because he didn't like the attention he had received online due to his looks.
Since then, he has been seen a lot less, but has still made a number of appearances at the bigger-scale royal events, including Monday's VE Day celebrations.
This has sent royal fans into a frenzy online, with many pleased to see him on duty once again.
One fan wrote on X: "Have certainly missed seeing that gorgeous guy."
A second said: "Always a pleasure to spot him in his kilt."
A third commented: "Wonderful to see him yesterday."
