Meghan Markle and Prince Harry 'made factual inaccuracy' over Lilibet statement

and daughter, Lilibet, was christened at a ceremony at the pair's Montecito home in California on March 23, 2023.

A spokesperson for the couple confirmed Lilibet's title, via People magazine, stating that "" had been christened.

A surprise by many as the Royal Family's website has previously stated the young girl's title as being Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor with her brother's title referred to as Master .

According to a source, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor chose for their children to use their royal title instead which was made evident in the couple's statement.

However, the title of Lilibet was not the issue after a major factual inaccuracy was discovered.

The announcement of their daughter's christening was the first time the couple publicly used royal titles for their children.

But in the statement, a glaringly obvious error was apparent which was pointed out by Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway.

The statement read: "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor."

Garraway said: "They put out a statement saying the Princess Lillibet was christened last Friday by the Bishop of Los Angeles which was a former journalist actually, a profession Harry's not always keen on."

The TV broadcaster pointed out the error while also questioning the couple's intentions.

"You worry that the Sussexes don't particularly help themselves, don't you?"

In their statement they called the Bishop of Los Angeles Archbishop which is "factually inaccurate and you just think, gosh, someone who is so keen on accuracy and representation it seems so unhelpful that things like that are wrong."

Reverend José H. Gomez is the Archbishop of Los Angeles whereas Bishop John Harvey Taylor of the Diocese of Los Angeles was the one who had christened Princess Lilibet Diana

Garraway, an ex-newspaper journalist added: "If you're challenging reporting and the accuracy of that about yourself, you've got to get your own facts right haven't you?"

There were a number of different elements for Lillibet's baptism compared to many other royal children including her age of 21 months which is older than many other royal babies who were baptized.

Prince Louis, for example, was baptized at age 2 months at the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace.

Lillibet's christening was also a modest affair, which was held at the couple's home compared to her brother, Archie, who was baptized in the private chapel at Windsor Castle on July 6, 2019.

Prior to Lilibet's baptism, invitations had been sent to King Charles, Camilla, the Queen Consort, and the Prince and Princess of Wales, however, they were not in attendance.
