's hit crime drama made its eagerly awaited comeback to screens with . The high-stakes episode returned with Brighton-based Detective Superintendent Roy Grace (played by John Simm) facing pressure to investigate a major drug investigation.
It saw the criminal trial of a ruthless Brighton drug lord known as The Merchant after Danny Starr (Josef Davies) was caught trafficking drugs into the country by hiding them in the tyres of his vehicle. However, after being spotted by border police and subsequently arrested, fans questioned the legitimacy of how the officials spotted the drugs. Taking to X, one shared: "Obviously I have no direct experience but I'm not convinced that a tyre full of drugs would put a 1600kg car 'well over its usual weight.'"
Another agreed: "Yes, I thought that - you couldn't spot the weight difference from a few kilos of additions."
While a third suggested: "Maybe the other four were filled too."
During the episode, as Danny was being questioned at the border, he said that he lorry he was driving contained a Petersen Dartmoor which he was importing for his company, D Starr Classics.
After he stepped out of the vehicle, police officers and their trained dogs inspected the inside and unwrapped the classic car, revealing a seemingly normal import.

The Superintendent arrived on the scene with his partner DS Glen Branson (Richie Campbell) and was informed that they didn't find anything suspicious. However, he suspected otherwise.
After a brief pause, the detective asked: "Did you weigh it?" He then compared documents to information on his phone and concluded: "It's well overweight for a car of this type."
He then used a pen knife to cut open the car's spare tyre, which unveiled bags of drugs and landed Danny in prison.
Although this episode marks the series five finale, thankfully for fans, DSI Grace and his team will return to screens as the upcoming instalment was confirmed.
Following its sharp rise in popularity, Grace was renewed in February, before season five had even begun. After its cliffhanger ending, fans will be forced to wait, as ITV bosses have yet to announce a series six premiere date.
