You could save a huge £224 on your bills and it's easier than you might think. Experts from Uswitch are urging households to run an energy comparison to see how much they could save by switching.
Households switching to a fixed energy deal from a standard variable tariff could save a huge £224 - or 13% compared to the current price cap. There are currently 23 fixed deals cheaper than the current price cap available, Uswitch.com says.
Ben Gallizzi, energy expert at Uswitch.com, comments: "Households could save around £224 by switching from their energy supplier's standard variable tariff to a fixed deal.
"There are a number of competitive fixed deals available at the moment, such as Fuse Energy's latest special deal, which is £10 cheaper on Uswitch than on any other comparison site for 12 months.
"If you haven't fixed in a year or more, you're probably on a standard tariff and paying more than you need to.
"Running a quick energy comparison is the best way to check what's available and find out if you could lock in a cheaper rate."
With winter fast approaching, now is the best time to make checks before colder weather takes hold in the UK.
Understanding your energy bills is a crucial way to keep costs down and while it might seem like a hassle to change, it will be worth it if you're able to reduce bill prices.
Energy Savers says there are three main things you need to check. This includes firstly that you're being billed for the right amount, secondly that you're not building up any debt, and finally if there's a cheaper tariff you can move to.
These simple changes could mean you're able to save a bit more of your money while not losing out on anything in your home.
