Mumbai: The recent announcement of Deepika Padukone’s exit from ‘Kalki 2’ due to commitment issues didn’t go down well with her fans.
They even called out the makers of the sequel for their rude and unprofessional way of announcing Deepika’s exit from the film.
However, new reports suggest that it is Deepika who walked out of the film due to drastic changes in the script which reduced her role to just a cameo.
According to India Today, insiders shared that changes in the script gave increased screen time to Kamal Haasan’s negative character and reduced Deepika’s role. This prompted the actress to walk out of the project.
Buzz also has it that Deepika’s demand for a 25 per cent fee hike, limited working hours, and accommodation for her team made the filmmakers drop her from the project.
The official announcement from production house Vyjayanthi Movies on September 18 read: “This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works.”
‘Kalki 2898 AD’ featured Prabhas as the lead actor, with Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika in prominent roles.
