Puri: At least four people were injured when two groups clashed during an event organised for laying of the foundation of a cyclone shelter in Brahmagiri area of Odisha’s Puri district on Monday.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place at Badadiandi village under the jurisdiction of Brahmagiri police station in the district.
Sources said an event was organised for laying of the foundation of a cyclone shelter in the village and several people from the area had gathered at the venue.
However, members of two groups suddenly entered into a fight following an altercation over some trivial issue. Both the groups fought a pitched battle and indulged in stone throwing. At least four persons sustained injuries in the clash.
The situation was reportedly brought under control after the police personnel present at the site stepped in and pacified the rival groups.
While the exact cause of the clash is yet to be ascertained, tension prevailed in the area and security was tightened to prevent any further flare up. Further details are awaited.
