Fans were quick to notice that Rajiv Thakur, a regular face from previous seasons of The Great Indian Kapil Show, is missing in Season 3. While the show brought back popular names like Archana Puran Singh and even Navjot Singh Sidhu, Rajiv’s absence left viewers curious.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, the actor-comedian finally addressed the big question.
“No One Takes a Break from Such a Big Show”When asked if he opted out of the show to focus on his stand-up career, Rajiv joked:
“No one takes a break from such a big show… Of course, you must’ve been fired,”
before adding with a laugh, “I’m kidding.”
He clarified that the main issue was scheduling conflicts. While the makers did reach out to him, he was unable to match dates due to other commitments.
Show Format and Limited Screen TimeRajiv also pointed out that screen time in the show is tight. With big names like Kiku Sharda, Krishna Abhishek, and celebrity guests already featured heavily, there’s little room left:
Focus on Stand-Up and New Projects“It’s a 55-minute episode. Everyone has a lot to do already.”
Rajiv has now shifted his focus to stand-up comedy, which he's been pursuing on the advice of comedian Samay Raina. His new venture, the India tour of “Gen Z and 90s Wale,” is keeping him busy.
