The Russia-Ukraine war is about to complete 3 years and instead of ending, this war is increasing. In this war, the UAE has made such an agreement with Ukraine and Russia, due to which the UAE is being praised in both countries. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday thanked Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the UAE's role in negotiating with Ukraine for the release of prisoners.

In fact, on Friday, prisoners were exchanged between Ukraine and Russia under the mediation of the United Arab Emirates. In which about 95 prisoners were released. On Monday, Putin welcomed Sheikh Mohammed at his home in Moscow and said, "I want to thank you for your role in solving humanitarian problems with the exchange of prisoners."

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has reached Russia with his high-level delegation to participate in the BRICS summit. Before the summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted a dinner for him at his residence, in which the two leaders met.

Mediation by UAE, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye

Since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war, the two countries have exchanged thousands of POWs (prisoners of war). Most such agreements have been brokered by the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. Putin also said that he would discuss the Ukraine conflict with Sheikh Mohammed and hold a formal bilateral meeting on Monday.

Relations between the two countries have grown stronger in the past few years and both countries have rapidly increased their mutual trade. Putin said that their bilateral trade has tripled to $11.1 billion in the past three years. Apart from this, Sheikh Mohammed said, "We still have a lot to do."

America's concern

Putin visited the UAE in December 2023 after an arrest warrant was issued by the International Court, which shows that the friendship between the UAE and Russia is growing despite Western pressure. The US has already accused several UAE banks of helping Russia bypass sanctions. It has also warned that if they continue to do so, action will be taken against them.
