Pratika Rawal Medal: Pratika Rawal played a key role in the Indian women's team becoming world champions for the first time. She had scored the most runs after Smriti Mandhana until she got injured.
The Indian women's cricket team has created history by winning the World Cup for the first time. Everyone is overjoyed with this success. But there was a pang in the hearts of Indian cricket fans. This pang was for the player who had led the team to victory in the group stage with her powerful batting. Due to a sudden injury, she had to be ruled out of the World Cup campaign. This player was Pratika Rawal, who, along with Smriti Mandhana, had given the team a strong start in the group matches and, before suffering an injury in the final group match, was the team's second-highest run-scorer after Mandhana, with 308 runs.
Although Shafali Verma, who replaced Pratika, displayed excellent all-round performance in the final, winning the World Cup trophy and being named Player of the Match, every cricket fan wanted a medal for Pratika Rawal as well. Due to International Cricket Council (ICC) rules, Pratika was denied a medal, but everyone was appealing to the global cricket body for this. Now, Pratika has finally received her medal. The proof is the medal seen around Pratika's neck, who was in a wheelchair with a plaster cast on her leg, as she accompanied Team India to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The medal was seen around Pratika's neck in a group photo taken with PM Modi at his official residence on Lok Kalyan Marg on Wednesday night. However, no official statement has been issued regarding this matter yet.
Not 15, but 16 members of the Indian women's team arrived to meet Prime Minister Modi. This 16th member was Pratika Rawal. All of them were wearing medals around their necks. Prime Minister Modi praised them all for their achievements. During this, everyone shared their heartfelt feelings with the PM. A very emotional moment occurred when Pratika, sitting in a wheelchair with Team India eating, had no food in her hand. The Prime Minister himself went and brought her something to eat.

In the team's official group photo with PM Modi, Pratika Rawal is seen wearing a medal around her neck, just like the rest of the team members. This has sparked curiosity among people as to whether the ICC has changed its rules. However, neither the ICC, the BCCI, nor Pratika Rawal herself have provided any clarification regarding this. Some people have claimed on social media that Pratika is wearing Amanjot Kaur's medal, who is standing in the back row in the photo. The photo also appears to suggest that Amanjot Kaur is not wearing a medal. However, without an official statement, nothing can be said with certainty.
What are the ICC rules?ICC rules state that the medal will be given only to those 15 players who will be present in the final match as the official team. Pratika Rawal was a part of Team India's original 15-member squad for the World Cup, but due to injury, her name was not included in the 15 players who played in the final match. Due to Pratika's injury against Bangladesh, Shafali Verma became a part of the team in her place from the semi-final match. Due to this, Shafali was given the medal, while Pratika was deprived of it. Earlier in the Men's World Cup 2003, Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie had taken 8 wickets, but due to injury, he was also not a part of the team that defeated India in the final. Due to this, he was also not given the medal.
