America and Canada together increased China's tension, landed warships in sensitive area.

Send Push

The tension between Taiwan and China is increasing. Now the movement of US and Canadian warships has been seen in the strait separating China and Taiwan. The tension in the region has increased due to the US and Canadian warships passing through the waterway between Taiwan and China. The US and Canada have taken this step after China's large-scale military exercises in the region in recent times. By passing their warships through the strait, both countries have indicated their strong position in the region.

The United States and its allies regularly transit the 180-kilometre (112-mile) long Taiwan Strait to ensure it is treated as an international waterway even though China contests its claims.

“The Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Higgins (DDG 76) and the Royal Canadian Navy’s Halifax-class frigate HMCS Vancouver conducted a routine visit to the Taiwan Strait on October 20,” the US Navy’s 7th Fleet said in a statement.

At the same time, it was also said in the statement that the passage of Higgins and Vancouver through the Taiwan Strait shows the international rights of this region. It also shows the commitment of America and Canada to maintain its independence.

China got angry

The US and its allies believe that this strait is internationally recognized, but China has been objecting to this. China has condemned this move of the US and Canada and said that the movement of warships in the Taiwan Strait will disrupt 'peace and stability' in the strait. The Eastern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) informed that naval and air forces were kept under surveillance during this movement and the situation was handled according to the laws.

China's pressure on Taiwan

China has increased military pressure on Taiwan in recent years, deploying fighter jets and other military aircraft and ships around the island almost daily. Taiwan's Defense Ministry said on Monday it had observed 14 Chinese military aircraft and 12 naval ships passing through the area in the 24 hours leading up to 6 a.m.
