Sofia Richie's gingham co-ord and matching £25 headscarf nail summer's 'picnic-core' trend

Send Push

Although we’ve seen plenty of major trends come and go, this summer already has been embracing micro trends in a big way, from tomato girl summer to Euro-style. However the latest to land on our social media feeds is picnic-core, which is essentially all about embracing a classic picnic vibe.

Think basket bags, florals and obviously plenty of gingham, and one celeb who is leading the way with the look is Sofia Richie. The model showed off her gingham co-ord, complete with matching headscarf, on Instagram recently whilst on holiday in France, and it’s safe to say her followers were a fan of the look.

“The look in the second pic is so good oh my goooooodness” said one, whilst another tagged a celeb style spotting account, asking: “Hii can you ID her gingham set and matching scarf? Looks like Hunza but not sure.”

The eagle eyed fan was, in fact, correct, as Sofia’s complete set hails from Hunza G, which is famed for its celeb-loved crinkle swimsuits. The model was wearing the Gingham Seersucker Shirt (£195) and the matching Gingham Seersucker Shorts (£125), which she finished off with the aptly named Sofia Gingham Seersucker Headscarf (£25).

If you’re looking for something a little more budget friendly, ASOS has a similar co-ord with its Revere Collar Resort Shirt (£32) and Pull on Shorts (£22), although the shirt has short sleeves rather than long sleeves like Sofias. You can also get the Sui Ava Gingham Headband Head Scarf for £11 to complete the look, although you can only choose between beige and white or blue and white colourways.

However Sofia’s headscarf is reasonably priced at £25, making it the perfect way to steal a little bit of the star’s style without breaking the bank. Although picnic-core is a micro trend that may only be fleeting, gingham print is timeless and easy to style, so you can nail the trend whilst still adding something to your wardrobe that you’ll wear time and time again.

Sofia’s gingham set was also the perfect pick for holiday, with its seersucker fabric being quick drying and having plenty of stretch. It’s also lightweight and breathable, helping keep you cool and comfortable while you wear it.

Her headscarfis made from the same quick drying fabric, making it ideal for drawing sweat and humidity away from your hair, not to mention protecting your scalp from burning in the sun. It also comes in several other prints and colours, so you can pick one that suits your style.
