Dame Jacqueline Wilson is still writing heartwarming and heart-wrenching novelsat almost 80 years old, and her latest novel has left fans amazed. Named Picture Imperfect, it's a sequel to the 1999 novel The Illustrated Mum, and it follows Dolphin, who is now 33, and her life has mimicked parts of her mum's.
Marigold is still struggling to manage her bipolar disorder, and Dol is picking up the pieces around her. But will she be able to find what truly makes her happy? To celebrate the launch of the book, HOME Theatre, Manchester, held an event where Jacqueline and Dani Harmer (yes, that's Tracy Beaker!) spoke about the new release.
But of course, the conversation turned to Wilson's other books, including the one that Dani helped bring to life through her amazing acting skills.

Dani thanked Jacqueline for the opportunity to act in the 2002 drama The Story of Tracy Beaker, which was adapted from the book of the same name, which was originally published in February 1991.
However, Jacqueline then thanked Dani for perfectly encapsulating the character Tracy, as it became such a roaring success.
Jacqueline went on to admit her life had changed because of the TV show.
While Jacqueline's financial success from her novels is not public knowledge, she has written over 100 books, has several TV shows made and has an OBE and damehood.
However, Jacqueline claimed someone at the BBC initially told her they didn't think Tracy Beaker would take off because she wasn't an "aspirational" character.
They had likely made the assumption that because Tracy was brought up in a care home and had a sassy attitude, people wouldn't relate to her. However, this was completely incorrect, and millennials adored it.
Jacqueline also said that she likes to write books about "people that might have had some difficulty with the sort of person that they are," and Tracy was one of these characters.
The audience asked whether she had any plans to bring Tracy Beaker back as an adult. Of course, there is a story about Tracy as an adult from the perspective of her daughter, Jess - My Mum Tracy Beaker.
But Jacqueline said she was unsure about giving the readers a book from Tracy's perspective as an adult, saying that she had a few ideas in her head, but wasn't sure whether she wanted to give that particular tale any finality.
She did say, however, that she is working on a book with "LGBTQ+ representation," but that she wouldn't be able to say any more because her publisher wouldn't be best pleased.
But it's exciting to know that Jacqueline has another book in the works, ready for her adoring fans to devour.
