Fortnite has consistently churned out cosmetic items, but some fans argue that this could be its downfall as players unite to criticise the game's recent lacklustre emotes.
Cosmetics are the lifeblood of Fortnite, so much so that they've practically overshadowed the game itself. The introduction of Fantastic Four cosmetics was a significant event, with players hoping that the anticipated debut of Marvel's first family wouldn't follow the pen and ink style of the recent Super Battle Pass Superman skin.
Thankfully, they didn't, otherwise Epic Games would have missed a substantial payday, particularly in the lead-up to the Super Showdown live event expected to bring more crossovers.
The game continues to introduce new skins and cosmetics to maintain player interest and keep the game as relevant as ever. However, it appears that many players are growing weary of the game team's recent offerings. Some fans have taken to the internet to voice their overall dissatisfaction with the current state of emotes following some iconic dances – it's evident that many players have simply had enough.

Exiting the Item Shop with a WaltzTaking to the FortniteBR subreddit, u/carno_101 has voiced their exasperation with Fortnite's current emote offerings in a fresh post, as the game unveils its latest dance inspired by The Jonas Brothers' Sucker. "They really aren't trying anymore," they declare in the headline, before elaborating: "From the extinction of original music in emotes. To only getting new icon emotes and now the icon emotes feel absolutely soulless. This feels like a 300 vbuck emote on loop with a song that has 0 relation to the dance."
Fellow players appear to share this viewpoint, with u/alarrimore03 commenting: "It really is terrible. The dance isn't good, it doesn't match the song at all really, and it short and repeats like 3 times before it resets. Nearly all the emotes in the last 6 months have been this way."
It's evident that enthusiasts are becoming increasingly disheartened by the day, and regrettably they make a valid argument – the title has declined considerably since introducing Orange Justice, and even the Griddy achieved legendary status amongst emotes.
With fresh choreography allocated to Gracie Abrams, Ed Sheeran and Camilla Cabello that barely accomplish anything beyond incorporating their tracks into the game, it appears the title finds itself in a precarious position.
Fortunately, the game's character skins have maintained quality recently, functioning as the primary and most coveted cosmetics that gamers desire, otherwise this could trigger something of a downward spiral for Epic Games. The company evidently requires a complete overhaul of its dance choreography.
