Gorakhpur: A controversy erupted at the popular Biryani Bay restaurant located at Shastri Chowk in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur, after a video claiming that a bone was found in a vegetarian biryani went viral on social media. The incident, which initially sparked outrage, has now taken a new turn after the restaurant’s owner released CCTV footage that allegedly exposes the claim as a deliberate attempt to defame the establishment by planting a bone in the dish.

Details On The Incident
The incident occurred on the night of July 31, when a group of around 12 to 13 people visited the restaurant for dinner. According to the restaurant staff, some members of the group ordered vegetarian meals, while others opted for non-vegetarian dishes. During the meal, one of the men suddenly began shouting, accusing the restaurant of serving bones in a vegetarian thali. He alleged that the eatery had hurt religious sentiments by mixing non-vegetarian items in veg food during the holy month of Sawan.

Panic spread among other diners, and the situation quickly escalated into chaos. Restaurant owner Ravikar Singh intervened and tried to calm the customers. However, as the argument intensified, Singh called the police and explained that veg and non-veg dishes were prepared separately, questioning how the bone was found in just one plate. He alleged that the group had staged the scene to avoid paying their bill.
CCTV Footage Reveals Truth
Upon arrival, police reviewed the restaurant’s CCTV footage and escorted the group out of the premises. Days later, Singh publicly released the video footage, which he claims shows a deliberate act: one man allegedly hands a bone from a non-veg plate to another, who then places it in a vegetarian plate, seemingly in an attempt to create a false narrative.

This kind of misinformation affects not only our business but also communal harmony,” he added.
Restaurant Owner To Take Legal Action
Singh stated that he would now file a formal police complaint and press for legal action against those involved in the incident. The police have not yet made an official statement.
