In the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) match between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans an unexpected thing happened when Colin Munro accused Multan’s Iftikhar Ahmed of an illegal bowling action.

The incident unfolded in the 10th over of the innings, following a sharp yorker from Iftikhar. Munro, who managed to defend the delivery, voiced strong objections over the legality of the off-spinner’s action, claiming it exceeded the 15-degree elbow extension limit set by cricket’s laws. Rather than approaching the umpires, Munro directly confronted Iftikhar, prompting a heated exchange on the field.

Match officials and Multan captain Mohammad Rizwan stepped in swiftly to de-escalate the situation. Rizwan was seen urging Munro to continue batting as the umpires chose not to halt play or take immediate action regarding the allegation. Whether Iftikhar's action will be reviewed post-match remains uncertain.

Munro lays groundwork for Islamabad's win

Despite the controversy, Munro's innings laid the groundwork for Islamabad’s successful chase. Munro, scored a brisk 45 off 28 balls and was dismissed shortly after the altercation by Michael Bracewell, with Iftikhar ironically taking the catch.

Opening batter Andries Gous starred with an unbeaten 80 off just 45 balls, guiding the defending champions to victory with 17 balls to spare in pursuit of 169. Earlier, Multan had posted 168, powered by Usman Khan’s 61 off 40 and a slow-paced 36 from Rizwan.

Iftikhar contributed 10 runs with the bat and bowled two overs, conceding 20 runs without picking up a wicket. The win cemented Islamabad United’s unbeaten run this season, securing their fifth consecutive victory and placing them firmly at the top of the table. Meanwhile, the Multan Sultans continue to struggle, now sitting at the bottom with just one win from five matches.
