Lucknow: The BJP has launched a comprehensive evaluation of all 403 Uttar Pradesh legislators in preparation for the 2027 assembly elections. Private agencies have begun discreet assessments that will grade MLAs into three categories (A, B, C) based on multiple performance parameters.
The evaluation focuses on development fund utilization efficiency, responsiveness to public grievances, electoral victory margins from previous polls, and perceived re-election prospects. Particular attention is being given to first-time and second-term legislators whose performance will undergo rigorous scrutiny.
The audit extends beyond individual MLA assessments to include analysis of caste equations and opposition strength across constituencies. A senior party official confirmed the compiled data, expected by September 2025, will directly inform the central leadership's ticket distribution decisions.
This strategic move comes as the BJP aims to secure a historic third consecutive term in India's most populous state. The evaluation process mirrors similar exercises conducted before the 2022 and 2017 state elections, though with enhanced parameters this cycle.
