Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A woman who was in need of cash for buying medicines for her ailing husband was duped by two fraudsters at Hamidia Hospital on Thursday night. An FIR has been registered against miscreants and efforts were on to identify and arrest them, police said.
According to reports, 30-year-old Manju Goswami’s husband is admitted at Hamidia Hospital due to some prolonged illness. Manju was with her husband at the hospital to attend him. However, she was not able to buy medicines and pay for other expenses of his treatment as she ran out of cash on Thursday.
At around 8 pm, Manju called his relatives and was requesting them for sending cash when two miscreants overheard her. They approached Manju and offered hefty cash in return of her mangalsutra and other jewellery. Manju who was in immediate need of cash accepted their offer and gave them her jewellery.
The duo gave her a bundle of notes and left the spot. Manju was shocked when she opened the bundle and found that it was just a bundle of papers under first currency note. Manju then approached police and lodged a complaint.
In-charge Koh-e-Fiza police station Krishna Gopal Shukla said CCTV footages were being scanned to identify the culprits.
