The accused in the alleged plot to assassinate Bollywood actor Salman Khan, Sukha, was sent to police custody for four days by a Panvel court on Friday.

The Navi Mumbai police arrested Sukha on Thursday. The accused was apprehended in Panipat, Haryana, on Wednesday.

In June, police revealed they had uncovered a scheme to target Khan while he was traveling to his farmhouse near Panvel, Navi Mumbai. This development came in the wake of a shooting incident outside his Bandra residence in April 2024.

Khan informed authorities earlier this year that he believed the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was responsible for the shooting, which was intended to kill him and his family. His statement has been included in the charge sheet filed by the Mumbai police regarding the incident.

The actor also reported that two unidentified individuals attempted to gain access to his farmhouse near Panvel using false identities in January 2024, noted the TOI report. Additionally, in 2022, a threat letter was discovered on a bench opposite his building, and in March 2023, he received an email threat from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

According to police, the Lawrence Bishnoi and Sampat Nehra gangs had deployed around 60 to 70 members to surveil Khan’s movements as part of their efforts to gather information on his Bandra residence, Panvel farmhouse, and film shooting locations.

Following credible intelligence about the assassination plot, a case was registered against several individuals at the Panvel Town police station on April 24.
