Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Tuesday said that India and China have opportunity to rebuild ties on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties on the basis of " mutual respect, mutual sensitivity and mutual interest".
Misri was speaking in the presence of Chinese envoy to India Xu Feihong at the launch of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties organised by the Chinese Embassy here. This was the first such high level representation by the Indian side at a China hosted event here since the Galwan crisis.
The Foreign Secretary while recalling that difficult period over the last few years referred to work done by the political leadership, diplomats and military to stabilize the relations. He mentioned that these engagements have helped to resolve several issues.
Misri claimed that there are encouraging developments that would lead to practical cooperation, including relaunch of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from this year. He called for restoring mutual trust and confidence among public and emphasised that stable bilateral ties would contribute to humanity as a whole.
"India and China should build healthy & stable & mutually beneficial relationships," Xu said on the occasion.
