Hindustan Zinc Q2 cons PAT rises 35% YoY to Rs 2,327 cr

Vedanta promoted Hindustan Zinc on Friday reported a 35% jump in its September quarter consolidated net profit at Rs 2,327 crore versus Rs 1,729 crore posted by the company in the year ago period. The revenue from operations in the reported quarter stood at Rs 8,004 crore which was up 21% over Rs 6,619 crore posted by the company in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

However, the profit after tax was marginally down 0.8% on a sequential basis versus Rs 2,345 crore posted by the metal major in Q1FY25. QoQ revenue uptick of 1.4% was reported versus Rs 7,893 crore in the April-June quarter.

The company also said that it will undertake investment of minimum 26% of equity in Serentica Renewable India Private Limited (SRIPL) or its affiliates.

The Board of Directors of the Company had on August 20, 2024 have declared an interim dividend of Rs 19 per equity share for the financial year 2024-25, aggregating to Rs 8,028 crore, and had set August 28, 2024 as the record date for the same.

Total expenses of the company rose to Rs 5,309 crore in September 2024 quarter up from Rs 4,709 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.

Hindustan Zinc has improved its operating margin to 40% in the reported quarter from 34% in the year-ago period. Net profit margin also improved to 29% from 26% in the year-ago period.

Segment wise, its zinc/lead vertical recorded a revenue of Rs 6,403 crore in Q2FY25 versus 5,259 crore in Q2FY24 while Silver reported a revenue of Rs 1,550 crore in the said quarter, up from Rs 1,297 crore in the year ago period.

The Company's earnings were announced during market hours and its shares surged 2% to hit the day's high of Rs 520 on the NSE.
