Chennai's iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium has received bomb threats amidst the suspension. Local police confirmed the incident on Friday, stating that they had received an email regarding the threat. After Kolkata's Eden Gardens and Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium, Chepauk also received similar threats amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan at the border areas.

According to the email, the stadium authorities would face consequences—potentially a bombing—if they proceeded to conduct a match at the venue. The local police have launched an investigation into the case, hoping to identify the individuals behind the threat. However, the initial findings from the email did not reveal any significant details about the issue.

A bomb disposal squad was called to verify the threat, and their inspection found nothing suspicious at the venue. Police officers briefed the media and told PTI that the investigation did not yield any conclusive evidence.

"It was a hoax," claimed the police officers who investigated the bombing threat at the venue.

On Thursday, May 8, stadium officials received the threatening email. A day later, on Friday, May 9, the police were informed about the situation. Following a similar threat at Delhi's stadium, suspicions were raised about it potentially being the work of repeat offenders. Officials stated that an investigation would be launched the same day to dig deeper into the threats.

A few days ago, Kolkata's Eden Gardens also received a bomb threat. The match between CSK and KKR was delayed due to security concerns. Once everything was verified and safety was ensured, the game resumed almost an hour after the scheduled time.

Due to three similar threats with no actual impact, a probe has been launched to investigate the matter thoroughly. So far, no arrests have been made by the authorities. As more details emerge from the emails, it is expected that leads may be found to trace the source of the threats.
