Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 23 (ANI): Samajwadi Party Member of Parliament Zia-ur Rehman Barq expressed anguish over the Pahalgam terror attack and described it as deeply distressing and emphasised that Islam does not permit violence against innocents.
Speaking to ANI, Barq said, "Not only me, everyone in the country is distressed after what happened in Pahalgam. In this country, the communal angle given to every incident is wrong. Islam never teaches to kill unarmed or innocent people. Killing an innocent soul means killing the entire humanity. Such an incident should not happen anywhere."
Barq also raised concerns over the failure of intelligence agencies, stating, "It is the central government's responsibility to tell why this happened. How did the intelligence agencies not know about any such incident taking place... The incident should be investigated, and action should be taken."
Echoing similar sentiments, the spiritual head of the Ajmer Dargah, Syed Zainul Abedin Ali Khan, condemned the attack, stating that such acts have no place in Islam.
"This is a very painful incident and there is no place for such incident in Islam...Why are innocent people being killed? From the Islamic point of view, they are not worthy of being called Muslims...No religion qualifies you to fire bullets at someone by asking their religion...Why are you defaming Islam? They should feel ashamed..."
The leaders' remarks come amid nationwide outrage over the brutal attack that claimed multiple lives.
This has been one of the biggest terror attacks after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 in Jammu and Kashmir. Following the terror attack, security forces have launched search operations on Wednesday to track down the terrorists responsible. (ANI)
