2024 Kia Carnival fuel-efficiency revealed: More efficient than Toyota Fortuner

Kia India recently launched the new Kia Carnival luxury MPV in the Indian market. The luxury MPV is available in single-fully loaded Limousine trim and is priced at Rs 63.8 lakh (ex-showroom). The bookings for the MPV are already underway, interested customers can book it online or by visiting their nearest dealership. The booking amount is set at Rs 2 lakh and the deliveries will begin soon.

The Carnival is powered by a sole 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, CRDi turbocharged diesel engine with 193hp of power and 441Nm of torque. Compared to the previous gen, the torque is up by 1Nm and the power has gone down by 7hp. The engine comes paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox which sends power to the front wheels. The official ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of the new Carnival is 14.85kpl.

When compared to the previous generation Carnival, the new MPV gets a 2.2-litre engine with an aluminium block. The older model made use of a cast iron block. It offers an improved fuel efficiency of 0.95 kpl compared to the previous model, which is rated at 13.9 kpl. With a 72-litre fuel tank, the new Carnival has a theoretical maximum range of 1,069 km on a full tank of diesel.


In terms of design, the new Carnival is based on Kia’s global design language and features a signature tiger-nose grille flanked by vertically stacked LED headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs. At the rear, it gets connected to LED taillights with L-shaped insignia. Other highlights include 18-inch alloy wheels, functional roof rails, shark fin antenna, integrated roof spoiler, silver skid plate and the C-pillar features a silver chrome inset that joins the chrome garnish at the bottom of the rear windscreen.



Moving inside, the new Carnival is offered with a 7-seat (2+2+3) configuration. The second row will get captain seats, and the third row will feature a bench seat. The Carnival gets dual 12.3-inch curved displays for infotainment and instrument cluster, three-zone climate control, a head-up display, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car tech, a 4-spoke steering wheel, dual electric sunroofs, second-row captain seats with heating and ventilation, a 12-way powered driver’s seat, powered tailgate, power sliding rear doors and much more.
