The first T20I between India and Australia on October 29 ended in a no-result due to rain. There are four more games left between October 31 and November 8. Unless there are further rain interruptions, these matches shall determine who wins the series or if the honours are shared. India skipper Suryakumar Yadav will want to maintain the domination that India have in T20Is Down Under.
India’s Brilliant T20I Record Down UnderIndia have never lost a T20I series on Australian soil. They have played a total of four series and won two while two have been drawn. India’s best performance was when MS Dhoni’s men whitewashed the hosts 3-0 in 2016. The other win came under Kohli in 2020 when India won 2-1. On both occasions, India had lost the ODI series played just before. The same has happened here so it is time to avenge that loss by winning the T20Is.

India’s key will be their bowling which never got a chance to shine in Canberra. But come Melbourne, the likes of Jasprit Bumrah have the opportunity to prove why India are such a potent force in this format. Since winning the T20 World Cup in 2024, India have won 23, lost three and had one no-result in 27 games. The last time India and Australia faced in a T20I was in the T20 World Cup Super 8 clash in Group 1 where India won by 24 runs.
Australia Out to Prove a PointAustralia, on the other hand under Marsh shall want to end the jinx of never beating India in a bilateral T20I series on home soil. Australia will not be satisfied with a 2-2 result. Both sides are preparing for the 2026 T20 World Cup and have a point to prove. Australia’s recent T20I form has been good and they will want to continue the momentum.

India 2025 alone, India have won 11, lost one and had one no-result in 13 games. They won the Asia Cup a month back and are looking in good touch. Beating Australia Down Under is just the tonic needed in the buildup to the T20 World Cup that begins in a little over three months. If India win that, they will be the first to win three titles.
Who Will Win India vs Australia T20I Series?Suryakumar’s men have their task cut out as the Aussies are not going to go down without a fight. At least three wins are needed for either side to clinch the series. If India draw it, they continue their streak of unbeaten T20I series on Australian soil. A win is even better. For Australia, nothing short of a series victory shall suffice. Who will be the team standing tall on November 8? Or do we even have to wait that long? Time will tell!
