7 Films Thamma & Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat Have To Take Down To Become Top Diwali Grossers

Diwali 2025 is the first time in 23 years that no ‘90s superstar movies are releasing on the festive period at the box office.

Instead, the fans will get to witness two interesting movies from varied genres — a horror comedy titled Thamma and an intense romantic musical Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat.

Despite carrying low to decent buzz at the box office, both Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat are expected to become the top openers of their respective lead stars — Ayushmann Khurrana and Harshvardhan Rane.

Thamma & Ek Deewnane Ki Deewaniyat Vs 7 Biggest Diwali Box Office Grossers

While Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat are expected to do well at the box office, but to become one among the top Diwali grossers of all time, here are seven Hindi movies that both the new releases will have to take down.

Both Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat have a six-day extended opening weekend to score big at the box office and post that, the two movies will have a free run of at least three weeks before Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan’s De De Pyaar De 2 releases in theatres on November 14.

There is also Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam’s Haq coming out on November 7 but that won’t be much of a competition to the Diwali 2025 releases.

Thamma & Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat Star Cast & Release Date

Thamma is a part of Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) and is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. It stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal and is the fifth film in the universe followed by Stree, Bhediya, Munjya and Stree 2.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is directed by Milap Zaveri and stars Harshvardhan Rane, Sonam Bajwa, Shaad Randhawa and Sachin Khedekar.

Both movies release in theatres on October 21, 2025.
