Thomas Frank has explained why Manor Solomon, Richarlison and new signing Kota Takai all missed Tottenham's 2-0 win against Reading on Saturday.
The Dane selected two different Spurs teams for his first match in charge, one playing in either half, the first half side captained by Cristian Romero and the second by Son Heung-min. However, there were a few players missing from the matchday squad at the Select Car Leasing Stadium against their League One hosts.
Takai, Solomon and Richarlison and Dane Scarlett were all missing, as were Archie Gray, Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert, who were the latest to return to pre-season training this week following their exploits at the U21 European Championships last month. Richarlison and Dane Scarlett were both believed to have trained alongside Gray, Tel and Odobert at Hotspur Way on Saturday.

After the win against Reading with a goal and assist from debutant Luka Vuskovic and a headed goal from Will Lankshear, as well as a standout performance from £55million signing Mohammed Kudus, Frank explained some of those absences.
"Manor, a minor calf injury unfortunately. Nothing big. Kota has a minor issue, like a contact [one], we expect him to train next week," said the Dane.
"Richy has trained well. We're just building him. I think that's the big thing, we're building him. He trained well yesterday. I'm expecting a full training week and I'm expecting him right now to play next week."
Tottenham's next pre-season friendly comes at Luton Town next Saturday before the squad heads off on tour to Hong Kong and South Korea to play Arsenal and Newcastle.
