Seeking clarification on why the name seems to be raising so many eyebrows, the parent and penned: “First time mum and I’m having a boy. We decided on Damian but everyone I tell this to absolutely hates it LOL. I’m not gonna change it, me and my husband both like it, but I just don't understand why literally everyone hates it.”

In response to this comment, another replied: “This. Damian will always be associated with this for me. Damon is close but loses the devil connection.”
A third echoed this train of thought: “I think people associate it with the devil," which prompted the mum-to-be to add: “One of them did say that and I was like what [sobbing emoji]."
Another person offered their perspective with: “It’s 100% the Omen movies. I hear Damian and I automatically think of those movies and I’ve never even seen them. But it’s a good name otherwise! Kids always make their names their own.”
Someone else, wondering why other names from popular horror franchises seem to still be in prolific use, commented: “It’s that 'Damien' is ruined but there’s still Jasons, Micheals and Freddys. Heck I even know a Regan. Also in Rosemary’s Baby, that baby was Adrian.”
Another, who also considered using the name for their child, said: “My wife and I spoke about it as an option for our firstborn, but wrote it off exactly because of The Omen films. Damian is the son in the films and is the son of the devil. He's the anti-Christ.
“It's an older film, but seen by many and Damian = devil is a common connection to make. Since The Omen, Damian/Damien has been used as a name for "dark" or demon coded characters in a lot of media.”
