says she's "terrified" about getting naked with her new lover as she jokes her body needs a "steam press".
The mum-of-four, 67, who was married to TV chef, , 63, for 20 years, is now happily embarking on a new relationship. However, Fern admits the thought of her new man seeing her without clothes is "daunting".
Opening up about dating in her sixties, she said: "It's daunting at any stage of life to get naked with someone new. These days my body looks as if it could do with a good iron or perhaps even better a steam press.
"So, as I contemplate seeking a new relationship in my 60s, that's a whole added layer of pressure. I have wrinkles, wobbly thighs and bosoms that I roll up like a Swiss roll to tuck them in my bra. Could I display all this to a new partner? I genuinely don't know."

According to the , she also admitted her new relationship is "terrifying" but also "tempting", continuing: "Although I see it as an important part of my re-powering, I find the prospect of a new relationship terrifying as well as tempting. I imagine what it would be like to have someone to talk to and walk with. Someone with whom to share hobbies, hold hands and maybe… gulp… get intimate."
Last month, Fern said she was worried her new partner would "critique" her in bed as she lifted the lid on their relationship. The former star, 67, has kept her private life out of the spotlight since calling it a day with TV chef, Phil, in 2020, after 20 years.
Fern and Phil have never disclosed the reason for their split, however they did say it was "amicable" and they will "continue to be friends".
The novelist revealed the news on , now X, on January 30, 2020, posting: "After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways. We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children. We would appreciate it if our privacy is respected at this time."
Four years later and Fern has started speaking about her private life and recently revealed that she is searching for the "ideal sex" life - while admitting she's worried about potential partners. In an interview with , she said: "It’s more [about] exposing yourself to a stranger’s eyes and [thinking], 'Will I be critiqued badly? Do I want to be critiqued?' I want the ideal sex, which is romantic, gentle, fulfilling and looking into each other’s eyes."
