Anthony Taylor made the correct decision to during on Sunday afternoon. That's according to Jermaine Pennant, who believes the referee was right to stop play and give a free-kick to the Reds.

The incident occurred in the 90th minute when Jesus tapped the ball home from close-range after Kai Havertz's effort struck the post. However, football.london understands that Taylor had already made the call to stop play, after Jakub Kiwior had been judged to have fouled Dominik Szoboszlai.

Kiwior appeared to jump through the back of Szoboszlai when winning a header before Havertz, who looked to have used his hand to prod the ball beyond Ibrahima Konate, hit the post - while Jesus struck home the rebound. Regardless, the Arsenal players fumed as they missed the chance to secure a vital three points.

There has been discussion since over whether Taylor made the right decision and Pennant, who played for both Arsenal and Liverpool during his career, has delivered his verdict.

Speaking with , Pennant said: "I don't think they are [wrong]. Anthony Taylor made some big decisions that were correct. If it wasn't a foul on Curtis Jones [Dominik Szoboszlai] it would have been chalked off because it was a handball but, in my eyes, it was a foul, he came in solid, and he could have easily let it play.

"But I think he wasn't scared to make those decisions."

Arsenal had gone ahead twice at the Emirates Stadium during a thrilling encounter. Bukayo Saka gave the Gunners the lead in the ninth minute, before Virgil van Dijk equalised. Mikel Merino put Mikel Arteta's men back in front, just before half-time, but Liverpool responded once again as Mohamed Salah struck late on to earn a share of the spoils.
